Representative Marjorie Taylor Greene (R-Ga.) inadvertently reminded people Wednesday that the slogan’s initials “MAGA” can also mean “Make Another Gaffe Again”.
The Georgia Republican was announcing plans to force a referendum on House Speaker Mike Johnson (R-La.) next week.
The motion will likely fail since Democrats announced it on Tuesday they would block his attempts to expel the President.
While Greene acknowledged the motion will not pass, she said forcing the vote will show voters that Democrats support Johnson, who she says is simply following the Democratic leader’s direction. Hakeem Jeffries (DN.Y.).
At one point during the press conference, she tried a move that probably sounded great in theory: She pulled out a blue and yellow “MUGA” hat — to “Make Ukraine Great Again,” a riff on “Make America Great Again” by former President Donald Trump. ” — and awkwardly placed it on top of a Johnson and Jeffries poster.
Yes, we know, photos or it didn’t happen.
Greene was so proud of her performative hat trick that she posted a video on X, formerly Twitter, with a note criticizing “unipartyism,” her term for elected officials who try to work together:
The Unipartido hates MAGA. They don’t want to make America great again.
The Unipartisan is MUGA. Make Ukraine great again.
Another forever war spending hundreds of BILLIONS of your dollars brought to you by Uniparty President Mike Johnson.

Johnson doesn’t seem concerned about Greene’s efforts or her hat collection. He basically answered a reporter’s question about her with “Bless her heart,” a Southern phrase often used to politely insult people, and asking, “Is she a serious legislator?”
Meanwhile, Greene’s “MUGA hat” stunt didn’t get the reaction she likely expected based on reactions from users on X, formerly Twitter.
On the one hand, many people really liked the MUGA hats.
Others simply doubled down on Greene’s mockery.
Most Americans would love to see a UniParty. End the constant bickering and partisan politics once and for all.
MAGA is divisive and combative. It should follow the path of the Dodo. https://t.co/dns1tqdhxu— Deborah. My friends call me Slayer (@drodvik52) May 1, 2024
How does GA feel about the fact that this newbie, parody member does NOTHING to move GA (or the US) in any way. No legislation, just stunts, histrionics and looking stupid all the time.@GO P@HouseGOP
And the GOP wonders why they are losing voters, losing seats and dignity. https://t.co/J5sJypg6MY— Court Pencil (@CourtPencil) May 1, 2024
