Emily Ratajkowski chose an unusual place to promote its newest swimwear.

In a series of photos published in Instagram, the model can be seen posing in a red, orange and white thong swimsuit — not on the beach or by the pool, but on the streets of New York’s West Village. The swimwear, from her Inamorata beachwear line, featured a colorful print with the sun and logo. Despite the cloudy weather behind her, Ratajkowski accessorized with just a pair of white socks, red Vans sneakers and an iced coffee. “KINI CITY! All new @inamoratawoman live now,” she captioned the post.

The new swimwear marks Inamorata’s first launch since last August. Although the model founded the brand in 2017 – capitalizing on the popularity of her own swimsuit photos – the brand has been silent on social media since its last post in November, when Inamorata ran a Black Friday sale that appears have left customers disappointed.

In an article by The cut, customers complained about months-long shipping and manufacturing delays and claimed that Inamorata offered a refund to “anyone who didn’t want to wait.” Since then, the swimwear brand has also disabled comments on all of its Instagram posts, except for the latest ones from this week.

And while Inamorata was silent on social media, the brand website remained active to process orders for its swimwear, priced between $75 and $135 per piece. Even the latest design – now available for purchase for $150 – Ratajkowski too patterned for several swimsuit campaigns besides her own in recent months, including for Victoria’s Secret, Tory Burch and Good American.

Modeling may be her career, but the campaigns raise questions about why Ratajkowski appears to be promoting other swimwear lines while neglecting her own. That said, Inamorata appears to be back on the market with its latest swimwear – but only time will tell if the brand will be able to regain the trust of its customers.
