A young man dressed in a nasty Kobe Bryant costume depicting the helicopter crash that caused his death the life of the NBA icon at a comic con in China, causing a massive backlash.

The person wore a helicopter-like contraption made from bottles and cardboard strapped to their arms and back as they lay on the ground to replicate the horrific accident. To make matters worse, the unidentified person was wearing a poorly constructed mask of the deceased player. Surprisingly, the costume received no backlash from convention attendees. In fact, the “cosplay” brought some laughs and many people tried to take photos of the costume. Most of the reaction to the cosplay reached X/Twitter, with Americans becoming furious over the controversial costume and “unhinged.” behavior.”

“How does someone ‘cosplay’ the premature tragic death of a person (along with several others and children) and I think it’s ‘funny’.. people are soooo…??????” A person typed. “Why are people so weird… so this person actually conceptualized the fantasy, slept on it, went ahead and did it, and kept thinking – is this okay?”

“Nothing is funny about any of the women, men or children who lost their lives in that helicopter crash. I have nothing else to say that is remotely positive about this,” another comment observed. “STUPID! Where are your consciences? This is cruel and cruel to your family, friends and fans. Soulless!

Other comments about the disgusting costume began to draw attention racist history from China and expressed that they were not shocked by the costume mocking a dead black man. “China’s hatred of the black community, especially black men, seriously needs to be looked into…”, another post to read.
