Las Vegas Law Enforcement Agencies Arrest 12 People in Sex Offender Compliance Check Operation

LAS VEGAS (KLAS) – Law enforcement agencies from across the Las Vegas Valley arrested 12 men during a sex offender screening operation throughout Clark County.

The arrests took place between June 3 and 7, during a face-to-face operation to ensure that sexual offenders complied with their registration.

Those arrested were: David Duenas, 43; David Perry, 45; John Simmons, 51; Jeremiah Gard,
39; Ryan Hamm, 60; Brian Monegan, 62; Casey Saunders, 26; Scott Billings, 49; Giezi Burrion Diaz, 29; Lawrence Sayles, 65; Nathaniel Whaley, 51 and Anthony Buncie, 62.

At the end of the operation, 1,840 sexual offenders were contacted, resulting in 12 arrests.

The Las Vegas Metropolitan Police Department reminds sex offenders who are required to register to verify their address with law enforcement according to the level assigned to them.

  • Level 3 offenders are required to check in quarterly

  • Level 2 offenders are required to check in semi-annually

  • Level 1 offenders are required to check in annually

The arrests were part of Operation Summer Shield 2024 and included multiple agencies, including the Las Vegas Metropolitan Police Department, the U.S. Marshals Service Violent Offender Task Force, the Nevada State Police-Sex Offenders Unit of Probation and Parole, the Nevada State Police Investigations Division, the North Las Vegas Police Department, Henderson Police
Department, Boulder City Police Department, Clark County School District Police
Department and the Las Vegas City Marshals.
