MOSCOW (Reuters) – The Kremlin said on Thursday that Russia was considering a possible downgrade of diplomatic relations with the West due to the deeper involvement of the United States and its allies in the war in Ukraine, although no decision has yet been made. .

“The issue of reducing the level of diplomatic relations is standard practice for states facing hostile or hostile demonstrations,” Kremlin spokesman Dmitry Peskov told journalists when asked about the possibility of such a step.

“Due to the growing involvement of the West in the conflict over Ukraine, the Russian Federation cannot but consider various options for responding to such a hostile Western intervention in the Ukrainian crisis.”

Peskov said that no decision has yet been made on the matter and that Russia is considering different ways of responding to the West.
