LITTLE ROCK, Ark. — While many across the state spent last weekend with their families for the Fourth of July weekend, one traveler spent hers looking for her car that was stolen in broad daylight.

Traveling nurse April Dooley said around 4pm on Sunday she walked into the Green Corner Store in the SoMa district. She said she got out of her car to grab some items before getting on the highway, and as she was getting ready to go back to her car, she panicked, realizing he was gone.

“I was out in less than five minutes and it happened very quickly,” Dooley said.

She said she was traveling to Kansas City to sign her contract as a traveling nurse before things changed.

She said she initially thought the car door was locked until she heard those 4 words from her friend.

“Your car is gone. I, of course, freaked out, blacked out for a second and immediately called 911,” Dooley said.

She says the suspect left with his little dog inside and that the business across the street captured the whole thing on camera and it was turned over to police.

Dooley said it’s something that has made her pay more attention.

“Put a tracking device in your car, because that would have helped with all of this, because if I had it, I wouldn’t be in this situation right now,” Dooley said.
