Trump’s former national security adviser at the White House John Bolton on Tuesday predicted how former President donald trump could end up delaying the announcement of his vice presidential pick.
“I don’t think Trump has made a decision yet” about who his running mate will be, Bolton told CNN. Kaitlan Collins. “I think we have to remember that with Trump it’s never final until it’s final, and sometimes it’s not final yet.”
Governor of North Dakota. Doug Burgum and Senators JD Vance (Ohio) and Marco Rubio (Florida) are the favorites to join the presumptive GOP presidential nominee on the ticket, Bolton noted.
Bolton said he “wouldn’t let it go” for his former boss Trump, of whom he is now a fierce critic, to “have the RNC delay the vice presidential nomination for two weeks, for three weeks.” […] to see what the Democrats are doing [President] Joe Biden at this point.”
Is Trump hoping to “make a choice based on what the Democrats do?” asked Collins, referring to calls among Democrats for Biden to abandon his campaign following his debate performance.
“Look, there’s no news coming out of the Republican National Convention other than the vice presidential nomination,” Bolton responded. “Why waste it in a week when Democrats may still be debating whether Joe Biden is competent to be president? I’m not saying he’ll do it, but Trump will look for every opportunity to delay it.”
Bolton also detailed what Trump looks for in his running mate.
The “highest priority is absolute personal loyalty to him,” he said. The vice presidential interview questionnaire likely contains “only two questions,” he added. The first, “Do you think the 2020 election was stolen?” The second, “If I told you to do what I told Mike Pence to do on January 6th, would you do it?”
