The Amarillo Police Department had officers working the scene of a fatal crash in the area of ​​I-40 and East around 4:53 a.m. Wednesday. “The eastbound travel lanes are blocked as we complete our investigation. We ask the community to find an alternative route until the area is cleared,” the community bulletin said.

At approximately 8:30 a.m. Wednesday, the Amarillo Police Department notified the public that the crash site had been cleared and traffic had returned to normal. An update with more details is expected to be released later this morning.
