24 hours after hitting the real estate market, a gorgeous custom luxury home on the Sacramento River owned by an NBA player has found a buyer.

Shipowner Cory José, who played for the Sacramento Kings from 2019 to 2021, listed the home for $1.5 million on July 15. Joseph, who also played for the Golden State Warriors, signed this year with the Orlando Magic. In 2014, he won an NBA championship with the San Antonio Spurs.

An offer on the waterfront residence has been accepted and is pending, according to listing agent Matthew Hindy, who represents several Kings players and staff.

Hindy, a real estate agent with Nick Sadek Sotheby’s International Realty, said the home is fully furnished, including televisions, beds, silverware and glassware.

O five-bedroom, four-bathroom residence in The Rivers community in West Sacramento, spans 3,670 square feet. There is also a one-bedroom, one-bathroom casita on the quarter-acre lot.

“It’s a very beautiful house,” said Hindy. “It has a beautiful design, a pleasant charm.”

Hindy did not identify the potential buyer, but said he is a musician who lives in Sacramento and is interested in using the casita as a music studio “so it met exactly what he needed.”

In front of the Crawdads

The two-story home, built in 2019, is in a gated neighborhood — across from Crawdads on the River restaurant — with a private patio and meticulous landscaping in the front yard. Its modern, open gourmet kitchen features a large island, attractive cabinetry, full-sized refrigerator, pantry, and wet bar.

The Rivercrest Drive home has five bedrooms and 3,670 square feet of living space.

The master suite is highlighted by panoramic windows facing the river. The room has access to an outside balcony. The luxurious master bathroom includes a deep soaking tub, separate shower, and double sinks.

The outdoor patio and balcony provide a relaxing place to enjoy the river scenery.

“There’s a balcony upstairs,” Hindy said. “When you wake up in the morning, have a coffee, see jet skis or boats passing by, then it’s a cool spot.”

And that was exactly what the potential buyer wanted.

“He has strictly sought to be in this riverfront community, and these homes rarely come up for sale,” Hindy said. “I think the last one was one I sold about three years ago, and it was Harry Giles’ house.”

Forward Harry Giles III played for the Kings from 2017 to 2020.

“We put the house up for sale, the agent showed it the same day, they wrote an offer the next morning, and we signed the contract a few hours later,” Hindy said. “So literally 24 hours pending, which is pretty strong.”

There’s a reason the home, one of the newest built in the West Sacramento community, went under contract so quickly, said Sacramento appraiser and housing analyst Ryan Lundquist.

“This strip of homes is unique in West Sacramento in that it is rare to see units adjacent to the Sacramento River,” he said. “There are only about a dozen houses built on this site near the river. It is true that there are more than 30 vacant lots waiting to be developed, but for now buyers in this particular location have very limited options for completed homes.”

Biggest sale ever for the community?

If the property closes at $1.5 million, it would be the largest sale ever at the development, Lundquist said. A nearby unit a few doors down sold for $1.5 million in 2006 before being resold for $1.295 million in 2020.

“Essentially, this property competes for the top of the neighborhood price market,” he said. “It’s actually on the higher end of the price spectrum in all of west Sacramento, other than a few custom homes built in recent years.”

Since 2020, there have been 29 sales over $1.3 million in West Sacramento, 24 of which were new homes. There were only 13 sales over $1.5 million and two over $2 million. The biggest sale ever in West Sacramento happened in July 2022, for $2.117 million, according to Lundquist.

Joseph’s Rivercrest Drive home is close to hiking and biking trails, the Golden 1 Center and Sutter Health stadium, home of the Sacramento River Cats, a minor league baseball team. Sutter Health Park is where the Major League Baseball franchise Oakland A’s will play starting in 2025.

“In short, like many areas in the region, luxury homes and price ranges have emerged in West Sacramento,” Lundquist said.
