NEW YORK (AP) — Biden Hunter dropped a lawsuit that accused Fox News of illegally publishing explicit images of him as part of a streaming series.
A lawyer for the president’s son filed a notice of voluntary dismissal Sunday in New York City federal court, three weeks after the action was filed. It was unclear why the lawsuit was filed, and Biden’s lawyer did not immediately respond to a Monday email seeking comment.
The lawsuit involved footage shown in “The Trial of Hunter Biden,” which debuted on the Fox Nation streaming service in 2022. The series features a “mock trial” of Hunter Biden on charges he did not face and includes footage of him nude and practicing sexual acts, according to the lawsuit.
The complaint alleged that releasing intimate images without her consent violated New York’s so-called revenge porn law.
Fox News described the lawsuit as “entirely politically motivated” and “meritless” when it was filed. A Fox News spokesperson referred to that statement when asked for additional comment Monday.
The notice of dismissal was presented on the same day that President Joe Biden has dropped out in the 2024 race for the White House, nullifying the race less than four months before the election.
