Protests broke out in Southport, UK, on Tuesday 30 July, a day after a man attacked several children and adults in the area, resulting in the deaths of three children.

Images posted on X show crowds, black smoke and flames near the Southport mosque on Tuesday night.

The protests followed a vigil for the three victims in the area, local media reported reported. A 17-year-old boy was arrested on suspicion of murder and attempted murder.

On Tuesday night, Merseyside Police appealed searching for information after several police officers were injured, cars were set on fire and stores were looted in the city.

“This is completely unacceptable. We are gathering evidence and those responsible will be brought to justice,” police said. Credit: @ThePurpleYoda1 via Storyful
