“The Daily Show” host Ronny Chieng had fun examining the Republicans’ Democratic attack that appears to be working dramatically well — accurately reminding people how weird they are.

And Chieng approves, noting with a sly smile that it’s really hard to defend yourself because every defense “sounds weird.” Watch the clip below now:

The bit, which took place during the show’s opening segment, was created when Chieng did a supercut of Democrats on TV explaining to people how weird Republicans are about everything from how they talk to popular culture to their all-out assault on civil rights. from literally everyone. which is enshrined in its current platform.

“Weird. Regarding donald trump Is it weird?” Chieng asked sarcastically before playing an especially weird clip from a recent Trump rally. “I just don’t see it.”

“Now, calling someone weird is a bit of a putdown of ‘he tried to overthrow democracy,’” Chieng continued. “On the other hand, you know, that message didn’t really stick. I mean, Democrats spent four years thinking, ‘Hey, guys. Remember January 6th? And most Americans said, ‘We don’t remember and we don’t care.’ So now the Democrats are like, ‘Hey, weren’t you trying to overthrow the government…kind of weird? Like, who does this?’”

“And now people say, ‘Yeah, I think that’s kind of weird,’” Chieng added.

“The best part about this attacking line is that there is no defense for it. I mean, you can’t say ‘guys, guys, I’m not weird. That sounds strange.”

Chieng advised Democrats to clarify “what kind of weird thing they are referring to.” “Because people might think they mean, like, Cool weird, like David Bowie or Jeff Goldblum. They’ll be like, ‘No, no, we mean weird, weird, like the Penguin from Batman. What happened to that guy? He’s like, ‘Hey, I’m a bad guy, but I also like wildlife conservation in Antarctica.’”

After that, “The Daily Show” took an extended look at the strange — yes, it’s strange — obsession that Republican vice presidential candidate J.D. Vance has with “childless cat ladies” who he claims secretly control America. It’s fun and you can, like we said, watch it above.
