The broadcaster ABC News confirmed this Thursday (8) that the former president of the United States, Donald Trump, and the vice president, Kamala Harris, agreed to participate in the debate scheduled for September 10th.
“ABC News will host qualified presidential candidates to debate on September 10 on ABC. Vice President Harris and former President Trump have confirmed that they will attend the ABC debate,” the network said in a statement.

The ABC debate is the first confirmed confrontation between the Republican candidate and the official Democratic nominee in the race for the White House in November.
Former President of the United States Donald Trump said he agreed to an offer from ABC News to debate Vice President Kamala Harris on September 10, this Thursday (8) at a press conference at his Mar-a property. -Lake, Florida.
Trump said he was “looking forward” to debating the vice president and had agreed to upcoming dates with Fox News, ABC and NBC.
“I think it’s very important to have debates, and we agreed with Fox on a date of September 4th. We agree with NBC. Fairly complete agreement subject to them on September 10th. And we agreed with ABC on September 25th,” Trump said at a press conference at his Mar-a-Lago estate in Florida.
A senior Trump adviser and an ABC source familiar with the matter said the correct dates Trump agreed to with the networks are: Sept. 4 with Fox, Sept. 10 with ABC and Sept. 25 with NBC.
Trump said “small details” were still being worked out, including audience and locations.
“The other side has to agree to the terms. They may agree or not. I don’t know if they will agree. (Kamala) did not give an interview. She can’t give an interview. She is not very competent and cannot give an interview, I am looking forward to the debates because I think we have to clarify things”, he said.
A CNN reached out to Kamala’s campaign for comment.
Kamala previously agreed to the Sept. 10 ABC debate — which was originally agreed to by Trump and former President Joe Biden before he dropped out of the race.
Earlier this week, Trump said he would not debate Kamala if she did not agree to appear in the proposed Fox News debate on September 4.
An ABC source was confident the network’s debate would be the first between Trump and the vice president, as Kamala’s campaign has indicated she will not agree to the Fox News debate.
A source familiar with NBC’s negotiations said September 25 was “one of the dates” given to the campaigns. Although the network discussed it with both sides, Kamala’s campaign did not formally accept it.
Details about location, rules and moderators will be determined closer to the debate date.
