Former President Trump’s plane, nicknamed “Trump Force One,” was diverted on Friday en route to his rally in Montana due to a mechanical problem.

The plane, headed to Bozeman, MT, landed safely at Billings Logan International Airport, the team confirmed for the Associated Press.

Jenny Mockel, an administrative assistant at the Billings, MT, airport, told the news outlet that the former president would use a private jet to continue his campaign event in Bozeman — just over two hours away.

Trump is holding a campaign rally at Treasury State on Friday night. The event is widely seen as a platform for the former president to target Senator Jon Tester of Montana, the last Democrat elected statewide. Polls show Tester is in a tight race against Republican businessman Tim Sheehy, who has been endorsed by the GOP presidential nominee.

One Emerson College Research/The Hill Researchreleased earlier this week, shows Sheehy with a 2-point lead over Tester, 48% to 46%. Another 5 percent were undecided.

In a video posted on social media platform by Trump advisor Margo Martin, the former president said he “just landed in a really beautiful place, Montana.”

“So beautiful to fly… you just look down and that’s how it should be,” he added in the video.

Trump’s rally in Montana is the only campaign event he is holding this week. Vice President Harris has surpassed him in terms of campaign rallies this week, of which she will hold five alone.

Harris garnered great enthusiasm and fundraising as she rose to the top of the Democratic ticket. His campaign said 14,000 people attended his rally in Philadelphia on Tuesday and 15,000 attended another in Detroit on Wednesday night.

Trump boasts a 15-point lead over the vice president, the Emerson/The Hill poll found. But Harris’ 40 percent support is a notable 5-point improvement over the 35 percent President Biden got in March.

The Hill reached out to Billings Logan International Airport and the Trump campaign.

The Associated Press contributed reporting.
