US Vice President and Democratic presidential candidate Kamala Harris leads voting intentions against former Republican President Donald Trump in three states that could be decisive in the November elections. The Democrat has a four-point lead in Wisconsin, Pennsylvania and Michigan, according to the New York Times and Siena College survey released this Saturday (10).
Among likely voters in the three states, Harris has 50% and Trump 46%. The survey was carried out from the 5th to the 9th of August.
The margin of sampling error among likely voters was plus or minus 4.8 percentage points in Michigan, plus or minus 4.2 points in Pennsylvania and plus or minus 4.3 points in Wisconsin, the report added. In total, 1,973 likely voters were interviewed for these polls.

Harris’ arrival has reinvigorated a Democratic campaign that was sinking amid Democrats’ doubts about Biden’s chances of defeating Trump or his ability to continue governing if he won.
US support for Israel’s war in Gaza, which has killed tens of thousands and caused a humanitarian crisis, has led to large protests and opposition against the Biden administration in these three states, especially in Michigan, where there are significant numbers of Muslim-Americans and Arab-Americans.
Around 200,000 people from these three states were “uncommitted” to supporting Biden in the Democratic primaries, citing Gaza politics. Harris made some sharp public comments about Palestinian human rights and expressed a change in tone, although she demonstrated no substantial policy difference from Biden on Gaza.
Polls showed that Trump had built a lead over Biden, including in key states, following Biden’s debate performance, but Harris’ entry into the race changed the dynamic.
An Ipsos poll published Thursday showed Harris leading Trump nationally 42% to 37% in the run-up to the Nov. 5 election. This national online survey of 2,045 U.S. adults was conducted Aug. 2-7 and had a margin of error of about 3 percentage points.
