Before the announcement, the website Politico reported that it received emails from an anonymous account with internal Trump campaign documents.
Among the materials is a dossier that the Republican campaign had put together on JD Vance, now Trump’s running mate, was on fire. The document included possible Vance vulnerabilities that could be used against him or the campaign. “These documents were illegally obtained from foreign sources hostile to the United States, with the intention of interfering in the 2024 election and sowing chaos throughout our democratic process,” Trump campaign spokesman Steven Cheung said in a statement. communicated to CNN.
Cheung cited a recent report published by Microsoft, in which the company claims that Iranians increased attempts to influence and monitor the US presidential election, creating fake news channels targeting liberal and conservative voters, as well as trying to hack a presidential campaign.
