Former Democratic presidential candidate Hillary Clinton will give a speech at next week’s Democratic National Convention on Monday night (19), while her husband, former President Bill Clinton, will speak on Wednesday night (21), according to two sources close to the planning.

The Clintons are among a long list of high-ranking Democrats expected to play significant roles in convention speeches in Chicago, where Vice President Kamala Harris will formally accept her party’s nomination for president on Thursday night. .

For Hillary Clinton, her next speech comes eight years after she accepted the Democratic Party’s nomination for president in Philadelphia before losing the election to Donald Trump in a shock defeat.

Previously, the CNN reported that the Clintons privately encouraged donors to continue financially supporting President Joe Biden’s campaign before he dropped out of the 2024 race following his disastrous debate performance. A source close to the Clintons’ thinking said the couple was being “respectful of the process.”

Both Hillary and Bill Clinton were quick to endorse Harris after Biden dropped out of the race last month.

Convention officials have not confirmed the date of the Clintons’ speeches next week, but said that, following historical precedent, current and former presidents are expected to participate in the convention’s programming. Biden is expected to speak on the first night.
