Former President Trump came out swinging at independent presidential candidate Robert F. Kennedy Jr. on Friday, despite weeks of encouragement for his likely November rival, President Biden.

In a series of posts on Truth Social, Trump suggested that Kennedy was put into the race to help Biden win re-election and claimed his running mateNichole Shanahan, not a serious candidate.

“RFK Jr. is a Democratic ‘factory,’ a radical left liberal who was created to help the corrupt Joe Biden, the worst president in the history of the United States, get re-elected,” Trump said. he wroteadding that “A vote for Junior” would essentially be a WASTED PROTEST VOTE, which could swing in any direction, but would only swing against the Democrats if the Republicans knew the real story about him.

In what appears to be a reversal of previous comments, he flagged that he would even put Biden over Kennedy. Last month, the former president praised the unlikely candidate’s campaign as “great for MAGA,” referencing the “Make America Great Again” slogan he frequently uses.

“RFK Jr. is the most radical leftist candidate in the race, by far. He is a big fan of the Green New Coup and other economy-killing disasters,” Trump wrote at the time. “I think that would mean he will get votes from Crooked Joe Biden, which would be a great service to America.”

“It’s great for MAGA, but the communists will make it very difficult for them to participate in the polls,” he added in March.

His comments came after a recent NBC News poll showed that Kennedy’s campaign could actually undermine Trump’s moves to return to the White House.

Trump maintained a 2-point lead over Biden in the head-to-head poll released Sunday. But with the addition of third-party candidates, the incumbent took the lead.

The Hill/Decision Desk HQ polling average index shows Biden and Trump were tied with 41.3 percent support, with Kennedy included.
