Former President Trump leads President Biden in several swing states by 4 points, according to a poll released this week.

O Bloomberg/Morning Consult Survey found that, in a hypothetical rematch between Trump and Biden in seven decisive states – including Arizona, Georgia, Michigan, Nevada, North Carolina, Pennsylvania and Wisconsin – the former president obtained 48% of the votes against 44% for Biden.

When adding third-party and independent candidates Robert F. Kennedy Jr., Cornel West, and Jill Stein, Trump still maintained a 4-point lead over the incumbent, 44% to 40%, respectively. Kennedy won 7% of the vote, while West and Stein got just 1% each, according to the poll.

The results are similar to those of a recent poll by The New York Times, which revealed Trump ahead of Biden by 3 percentage points in Pennsylvania, 5 points in Michigan, 7 points in Arizona, 10 points in Georgia and 12 points in Nevada. However, in Wisconsin, the incumbent president led Trump by 2 points.

Biden won each of the six states in the 2020 election, but not by large amounts.

The Bloomberg/Morning Consult poll also found that more voters in swing states said the country’s economy was “in better shape” under the Trump administration.

About 51 percent of registered voters in the survey said the economy was more robust under the former president. About 36 percent of voters said the situation was “better” under Biden, and 13 percent said the situation was “about the same” under both administrations.

On the other hand, more voters said they trusted Biden on issues related to climate change. Approximately 47 percent of respondents said they trust the incumbent to resolve climate issues, compared with 34 percent for Trump. Around 15% responded “none”.

Voters will soon see Biden and Trump clash personally over their political agendas, as the two quickly agreed to two debates last week, with one scheduled for late June.

The Bloomberg/Morning Consult poll was conducted May 7-13, with a sample of 4,962 registered voters from the seven swing states. The survey’s margin of error is plus or minus 1 percentage point.
