Former President Trump highlighted Hungarian Prime Minister Viktor Orban’s support for him on Sunday following his conviction in the money hush criminal case in New York last week.
In a social media post on Sunday night, Trump posted a screenshot of Orbán’s message on social platform X.
“I know President @realDonaldTrump as a man of honor,” Orban wrote on X on Friday morning after the conviction. “As president, he always put America first, commanded respect around the world, and used that respect to build peace.”
“Let the people give their verdict in November!” Orbán he wrote, echoing Trump’s sentiment following news of the conviction. “Keep fighting, Mr. President!”
Trump was convicted of 34 felony counts of falsifying business records to cover up a scheme to hide potentially damaging information from the American public ahead of the 2016 presidential election.
Trump’s legal team promised to appeal the verdict.
Orbán – who has long maintained a close relationship with factions of the US political right – joined other Republican allies of the former president in defending the presumptive Republican nominee for president in 2024.
