President Biden and former President Trump are neck and neck in hypothetical general election matchups in the key battleground states of Michigan, Pennsylvania and Wisconsin, according to polls released Tuesday.

FAU PolCom Lab/Mainstreet Research survey — which includes 2,068 adults in Michigan, Pennsylvania and Wisconsin — shows that the presumptive parties’ candidates performed well within the poll’s margin of error in the three states, all of which Biden won by small margins in 2020.

General, Trump leads Biden by one point among all voters (44 percent to 43 percent) and one point among likely voters (44 percent to 43 percent).

In Michigan, voters are divided between Trump and Biden, with 45% supporting each candidate. Likely voters lean slightly more in favor of Biden, with 47% supporting the president and 46% supporting the former president.

In PennsylvaniaTrump leads Biden by two points among all voters (45% to 43%) as well as likely voters (47% to 45%).

In WisconsinBiden leads Trump by two points among all voters (40 percent to 38), but Trump leads Biden by one point among likely voters (41 percent to 40 percent).

“Neither side has a significant advantage in any of the three states at this time,” Dukhong Kim, associate professor of political science at FAU, said in a statement.

With the margins so narrow, only a small number of voters in swing states could be significant in determining the outcome of November’s general election.

In The Hill/Decision Desk HQ’s national polling average, Trump leads Biden by one point, 45.1% to 44.1% — well within the margins of error of most polls.

The FAU PolCom Lab/Mainstreet Research poll was conducted May 30-31, 2024 and had an overall margin of error of 2.2 percentage points.
