Rep. Tom Cole (R-Okla.) won the Republican Party nomination for his House seat representing Oklahoma’s 4th Congressional District, according to Decision Desk HQ.
Cole, who has held his seat in the Chamber for more than 20 years, fended off some main opponents in the race, most notably businessman Paul Bondar. Cole is the chairman of the House Appropriations Committee.
Bondar had indignant Cole in the primary thanks to a $5 million loan he provided to his own campaign, representing most of the money he received. He ran in the right-wing primary as a strong supporter of former President Trump, calling for a tough immigration policy, ending additional financial support for Ukraine, and impeachment of President Biden.
Cole, who has supported additional support for Ukraine, emphasized his strong ties to his state and experience compared to Bondar, who only moved from Texas to Oklahoma relatively recently.
Cole will be the favorite to prevail in the November general election in a solidly conservative district.
