Former President Trump spent hours before heading to Atlanta for Thursday’s debate with President Biden criticizing his opponent and complaining about Fox News.

Trump, in a trio of posts on his Truth Social platform, criticized the president as a “threat to democracy” and the country and lamented that Fox had a prominent Biden campaign spokesman on its airwaves ahead of the CNN-hosted debate .

“Joe Biden is a threat to democracy and a threat to the survival and existence of the country itself!!!” trump wrote in a post in all capital letters.

The attack on Biden as a threat to democracy has become common by the presumptive Republican candidate and his team, seeking to refute a central argument of Biden’s campaign.

The incumbent and his team have pointed to Trump’s refusal to accept the results of the 2020 election, his role in the violent attack on the Capitol on January 6, 2021, and his calls to prosecute opponents as proof that the former president it is a threat to basic principles. US institutions.

In a separate post, Trump condemned Biden’s policies as a “NIGHTMARE FOR WOMEN when it comes to Borders and Immigration!”

The post suggests what will likely be a major point of emphasis for Trump in the first presidential debate of this cycle, as he seeks to highlight Biden’s handling of the southern border and crimes allegedly committed by migrants who crossed the border illegally.

Biden is likely to respond by citing his recent executive actions at the border, and will almost certainly try to pivot to calling Trump a danger to women due to his views on abortion.

In a third post, Trump ripped Fox Newsquestioning why the network puts “so many Biden people like Michael Tyler, Biden’s communications director, who have spewed lies with very little resistance? Incredible!!!”

Fox News placed Trump campaign deputy communications director Caroline Sunshine right after Tyler.

The former president often criticizes Fox over the comments of some guests, and his post on Thursday morning was an indication that he was tuned into the network hours before taking the stage in Atlanta.

Ammar Moussa, a spokesperson for Biden’s campaign, responded to Trump’s Truth Social post by saying Tyler was “living for free in Donald Trump’s head.”

The debate, hosted by CNN and moderated by anchors Jake Tapper and Dana Bash, will take place in Atlanta at 9pm EDT and will be simulcast on most major media outlets.
