President Joe Biden still plans to participate in a second presidential debate in September, an adviser said to CNN.

The advisor acknowledged that the president’s performance in the debate on Thursday (27), in Atlanta, was mediocre, but said that the campaign is committed to highlighting the moments that it believes worked for its candidate.

Many Biden campaign and White House staffers, the adviser said, worked for former President Barack Obama’s re-election campaign, in which Obama delivered a first debate performance that even he himself described as “stinking” — and Obama still won re-election.
