Vice President Kamala Harris admitted at a fundraising event in Los Angeles this Saturday (29) that President Joe Biden’s performance in CNN debate it was not his “best moment”, but he argued that there was a clear contrast between him and Donald Trump.

In her last rush to defend Biden after Thursday’s debate (26), Harris painted Trump as a “threat to democracy” during comments at a “Biden Victory Fund” event held at the private residence of filmmaker Rob Reiner and his wife, Michele, in Brentwood.

Harris emphasized that the stakes of the election are higher than ever and argued that “none of this changed because of one day in June.” She praised the Biden administration’s record, specifically regarding women’s reproductive rights, student debt and health care.

The fundraiser was billed as a Pride-themed garden party in honor of the anniversary of the end of Proposition 8, which banned same-sex marriage in California.

Harris reflected on the day Proposition 8 was struck down and the “heart and pain that for years surrounded this movement.” She highlighted that the ongoing attacks on LGBTQIA+ rights are closely linked to attacks on voting rights and reproductive rights.

“What we know in any movement about freedom and freedom is that we stand on the broad shoulders of the people who came before us, and we are sitting here, right now, together because they passed the baton to us in this relay race of history,” Harris he said.

“And the question is, while we carry the baton, what are we going to do with it?”

On the other side of the country, Biden also participated in fundraising events in New York and New Jersey, where he said he will fight “harder” in the campaign.
