First lady Jill Biden doubled down on her support for her husband in a new interview, saying she won’t let last week’s debate define the final four years of President Biden’s administration.

In comments to Vogue on Sunday, the first lady said the family “will not let these 90 minutes define the four years he has been president.”

“We will continue to fight,” she said, adding that Biden “will always do what is best for the country.”

Jill Biden is featured in Vogue magazine August 2024 Edition. The magazine noted that they spoke to her by phone on June 30, where she met at Camp David with the president and other family members in a previously scheduled visit.

The campaign has tried to calm concerns in recent days about the president’s performance in last week’s debate, where he appeared to stumble over some of his answers and sometimes slur his words.

Some Democrats questioned whether Biden is the best candidate to put forward after last week’s debate, and several newspaper editorial boards across the country have called for the president to resign.

The campaign and the White House have remained adamant that Biden will not drop out of the race amid concerns from members of his own party. The campaign also touted its fundraising numbers in the 72 hours following the debate, saying it raised more than $33 million.

Biden spoke to voters on Friday in Raleigh, North Carolina, after the debate, where he insisted he remains the best candidate for the White House.

“Guys, I don’t walk as easily as I used to. I don’t speak as well as I used to. I don’t debate as well as I used to,” Biden said at a campaign rally.

“But I know what I know,” he said. “I know how to tell the truth. I know right from wrong. And I know how to do this work. I know how to do things. And I know what millions of Americans know: When you get knocked down, you get back up.”
