Jill Biden is defending President Biden’s re-election bid, saying she is “fully behind” her husband’s 2024 candidacy.

“President Biden wakes up every morning ready to work for you,” the first lady said Monday during a stop in Wilmington, North Carolina, to launch a campaign initiative aimed at veterans and military families.

“That’s what this election is about: you,” she said.

“Despite all the talk about this race, Joe has made it clear he’s all in,” Biden continued, before the crowd chanted “Four more years!”

“That’s the decision he made. And just as he’s always supported my career, so do I,” exclaimed Biden, a professor at Northern Virginia Community College.

Jill Biden’s comments come after the commander-in-chief’s “disastrous” debate last month against former President Trump in Atlanta, which sparked calls from political opponents and allies for him to drop out of the race for the White House.

The first lady has faced criticism for her husband’s decision to stay in the race, with detractors claiming she was prioritizing “what’s best for herself over her husband’s health and the safety of the country overall.”

“The president has many political advisors and politicians – this has never been [Jill Biden’s] role,” Elizabeth Alexander, the first lady’s communications director, told ITK last week.

In his remarks in Wilmington, Biden repeatedly tried to contrast the president’s record on military issues with Trump’s.

“We know what Donald Trump was like as commander in chief. He fired the military community and diminished America’s leadership around the world. And it could be worse this time. He says he wants to be a dictator from day one,” said Biden at the event.

“Donald Trump wakes up every morning thinking about one person and one person only: himself,” she said.
