In his first press conference since the US Presidential Debate, CNN, US Senate Majority Leader Chuck Schumer refused to answer questions about President Joe Biden’s fitness as the party’s nominee.

Schumer was asked several times about Biden, but he only stated, “Like I said before, I’m with Joe.”

Manu Raju, from CNN, asked the New York Democrat whether he agrees with Democratic Senator Patty Murray’s assessment that Biden needs to demonstrate he is strong enough to defeat Donald Trump.

Schumer once again responded “I’m with Joe.”

Additionally, Senator Tom Carper of Delaware on Tuesday (9) praised Biden’s performance at a bill signing at the White House earlier in the day.

He noted that the president spoke “literally without notes” or a teleprompter for “probably about an hour” at the signing of a bipartisan nuclear energy bill.

Asked about his own support for Biden, Carper responded “I’ve known him for 50 years. I’m not going anywhere”.
