Senator JD Vance, from the state of Ohio, was formally nominated for the Republican Party ticket for this year’s United States presidential elections at the Republican National Convention, this Monday (15).

Former President of the United States, Donald Trump, chose the senator from Ohio as his candidate for vice president on his Republican Party ticket for the 2024 presidential elections, on the social network Truth Social, this Monday (15).
Minutes later, Trump was made official as the Republican Party’s presidential candidate by delegates at the Republican National Convention, this Monday (15).
Who is JD Vance?
J. D Vance was born and raised in Middletown, Ohio, an industrial town.
He enlisted in the United States Marine Corps and served in the Iraq War.
Vance graduated from Ohio State University and Yale Law School and wrote a best-selling book, Hillbilly Elegy, which was turned into a Netflix film.
A newcomer, the senator entered the US Congress with the help of Trump, whose endorsement helped him win a hotly contested race in 2022.
Vance criticized Trump in 2016, and six years later, Trump publicly humiliated Vance, even after endorsing him in the 2022 election.
Still, the senator is an ardent Trump supporter in Congress and often votes in line with the former president’s interests.
He opposed a Ukraine aid bill earlier this year, adopting Trump’s criticism of providing more aid. He is also close to Donald Trump Jr, the former president’s son.
