Democratic strategist Van Jones said Monday that model and rapper Amber Rose’s speech was “the most effective” at the Republican National Convention (RNC) and therefore could be “the most dangerous” for Democrats this election cycle.

“That was probably the most dangerous speech for the Democratic coalition,” Jones told CNN on Monday night. “This is a young black woman. She’s describing the experience that a lot of people have – feeling that maybe if you’re around a lot of liberals, you might be criticized too much or you might not be able to speak your mind, and she spoke really well about that. ”

“And she’s much more famous than any of us here – I’ll tell you this – much more famous. And so, to the extent that these guys are trying to break up our coalition, this was a bunker buster,” said Jones, the CNN commentator.

Rose spoke at the RNC on Monday and described her decision to “put aside my fear” of being judged for supporting Trump after, she said, she initially thought the former president was racist. in her speech, and she did more research.

“I realized that Donald Trump and his supporters don’t care if you’re black, white, gay or straight, it’s all love,” Rose said. “And that’s when it hit me. These are my people. This is where I belong.”

“So, I put aside the fear of judgment, of being misunderstood, of being attacked by the left, and I put on the red hat too,” she added.

The CNN panel praised Rose for her political acumen and Jones said he wouldn’t be surprised if she had a political future.

“This person is super talented, okay? Like, this person knows how to speak clearly and directly, knows how to use the camera, her cadence,” said CNN commentator Scott Jennings, a Republican strategist, in response to Jones. “They have something there.”

Jones also praised the way the artist was able to speak to the American people through the camera, rather than feeling compelled to address a large crowd, which can be less effective.

“In these big arenas, it’s hard not to want to fill the room,” Jones said, first in the clip highlighted by Mediaite. “But you’re not talking to the 30,000 people there, you’re talking to the 30 million people at home, and she was, I mean, she was the most effective.”

“You might be heard in that hallway, but you’re in someone’s living room,” he added. “She understood that and I wouldn’t be surprised if she didn’t have a political future.”

Trump, who was officially named the Republican Party’s nominee for president at the convention, also named his running mate: Ohio Senator JD Vance.
