Former President of the United States, Donald Trump met with former Prime Minister of the United Kingdom, Boris Johnson at the Republican Party convention in Milwaukee, this Tuesday (16).
Trump posted a photo of the meeting on Truth Social and said: “Nice meeting with former Prime Minister Boris Johnson, a very good guy!”
The meeting between the leaders takes place days after the former US president suffered an assassination attempt at a rally in Pennsylvania. Trump appeared publicly for the first time since the attack on Monday (15) at the Republican National Convention.
At the event, the Republican was made official as a presidential candidate for the Republican Party, along with his choice for vice president, Ohio senator JD Vance.
Relationship between Trump and Johnson
The two leaders have long been close, with Johnson previously known as “UK’s Trump”.
Trump and Johnson’s terms briefly aligned when the Conservative Party emerged triumphant from Brexit under Johnson’s leadership in 2019.
However, the then-British Prime Minister was forced to resign in 2022 after a turbulent tenure in office.
Since then, the Conservatives have lost support, with the Labor Party winning the election earlier this month in a landslide.
