Former President of the United States, Donald Trump, arrived at the Republican National Convention on the fourth and final night of the event, this Thursday (18).
Trump is expected to speak later this evening and formally accept the Republican Party’s presidential nomination for the third time. Trump’s speech will mark the first time that the former president returns to the stage since the attack on him on Saturday (13).
The former president of the United States still wears the bandage on his right ear.
Wyoming Sen. John Barrasso, Texas Sen. Ted Cruz and Nevada Senate candidate Sam Brown were among those who greeted Trump as he entered the arena box.
Trump will speak at the event
Trump said he scrapped his opening remarks prepared for the party event and wrote a “totally different speech” after surviving an assassination attempt Saturday at a rally in Pennsylvania.
“This is an opportunity to unite the entire country, even the entire world. The speech will be very different,” the former president told the Washington Examiner previously.
One of his top advisers, Chris LaCivita, said Trump’s speech will be “very future-focused,” while another source told CNN that Trump is not expected to say President Joe Biden’s name during his remarks accepting his party’s presidential nomination.
The former president is expected to recount his experience in detail on Saturday (13), when he takes the stage this evening, explaining what it was like to experience the assassination attempt, according to a source with knowledge of his speech.
He also told allies that he would mention that he believes he is only alive due to some type of divine intervention and talk about faith and God during his time on the palcp, a source familiar with CNN.
This is a sentiment Trump has demonstrated previously since the rally attack, the news outlet reported. CNN.
