JD Vance, Republican candidate for Vice President of the United States, is calling on President Joe Biden to resign, arguing that those who encourage him to leave the electoral race without resigning from office are “engaged in an absurd level of cynicism”.

“Anyone who calls on Joe Biden to ‘stop running’ without also calling on him to resign from the Presidency is engaging in an absurd level of cynicism. If you can’t run, you can’t serve. He must resign now,” the Ohio senator posted on X.

Vance has argued this before, but this is the first time he has done so as a Republican vice-presidential candidate.

Earlier this month, Vance posted: “Democratic Party elites and their media mouthpieces are now obsessed with replacing Biden on the ballot. But if he’s not fit to run for president, he’s certainly not fit to be president.”

“If he doesn’t run again, he needs to resign as commander in chief,” he concluded.
