The President of the United States House of Representatives, Mike Johnson, called on Joe Biden to resign from office.

This comes shortly after the president of the United States announced that he has withdrawn from running for re-election.

“If Joe Biden is not fit to run for President, he is not fit to serve as president. He must resign from his position immediately. November 5th cannot come soon enough,” Johnson, a prominent member of the Republican Party, said in a statement on X.

Biden says he supports Kamala Harris’ candidacy

In a publication moments after releasing the letter about withdrawal, Joe Biden said he supports Kamala Harris’ candidacy for President of the United States.

“My first decision as the party’s 2020 candidate was to choose Kamala Harris as my vice president. And it was the best decision I made”, she pointed out.

“Today, I want to offer my full support and endorsement for Kamala to be our party’s nominee this year. Democrats – it’s time to come together and defeat Trump. Let’s do this,” she concluded.

Biden is the first US president to give up re-election in more than 5 decades
