The Vice President of the United States, Kamala Harris, gave this Monday (22) the first speech after Joe Biden gave up his candidacy for re-election. The speech took place in Washington, DC.

Harris noted in a brief speech that Biden’s legacy of achievements as president is “unmatched in modern history”, and highlighted his “honesty, integrity, commitment to his faith and his family and big heart”.

“In one term, he has already surpassed the legacy of most presidents who served two terms,” he commented.

Harris also said she is witness to the fact that Biden fights every day for the people of the United States, citing the “deep love” he has for the country.

However, she did not address the 2024 presidential election.

Kamala Harris is the main candidate to run for the White House for the Democratic Party, having received support from Joe Biden.

The vice president stated on Sunday (21) that she will win the party’s nomination and thanked the president.

“Biden would like to be here today”

At the beginning of the speech, Kamala Harris stated that Joe Biden “would like to be here today”. The US president recovers after contracting Covid-19.

“He is feeling much better and recovering quickly, and is looking forward to getting back on the road,” he commented.

In an interview last week, Biden said that only a health problem would make him rethink running for re-election.

However, a White House source told CNN that the Democrat’s decision was not related to medical issues.

Harris will go to Delaware

Kamala Harris will head to Wilmington, Delaware, late this afternoon local time to meet with her campaign team.

“It’s the first full day of our campaign, so I’m heading to Wilmington, DE, later to say ‘hello’ to our team at HQ. One day completed. 105 to go. Together, we will overcome this”, wrote the vice president in X.
