Former President Trump is pushing for the second presidential debate to be hosted by a network other than ABC, accusing it of bias against him while shifting his attacks to Vice President Harris ahead of November.
“ABC Fake News is a joke, it’s among the WORST in the business,” Trump wrote in his Truth Social platform during Monday night. “They try to make Crooked Joe a brave warrior because he didn’t have the ‘guts’ to fight – he gave up!”
“They then tried to make ‘Sleepy’ seem like a great president – he was the WORST, and Lyin’ Kamala a competent person, which she is not. ABC, the home of George Slopadopolus, is not worthy of holding a debate, of which I hope there are many!” added the former president.
ABC is currently scheduled to host a second presidential debate on September 10, a matchup that Trump and President Biden have agreed to.
Biden dropped out of the race on Sunday after a disastrous debate performance late last month, endorsing Harris, who on Monday won the support of enough delegates to secure the party’s nomination for president this fall.
Trump suggested that Fox News, the most-watched cable network, should instead host a second presidential debate between him and Harris.
“Now that Joe, not surprisingly, has dropped out of the race, I think the debate, with whoever the radical left Democrats choose, should be held on FoxNews rather than the very biased ABC,” the former president said. wrote in a post just hours after Biden dropped out of the race.
Trump has long ridiculed Fox for its coverage of him, criticizing the network Monday for putting Rep. Eric Swalwell (D-Calif.) on the air.
“Where’s your Chinese spy girlfriend? What’s wrong with FoxNews? It’s RINO Paul Ryan’s fault,” Trump said, referring to the former Republican House speaker who sits on the board of the network’s parent company .
Still, the former president appeared on the network Monday night with his running mate, Sen. J.D. Vance (R-Ohio), for an exclusive interview with primetime commentator Jesse Watters.
During an interview with ABC News earlier this week, RNC Chairman Michael Whatley was pressed by anchor David Muir about whether Trump would attend the planned September 10 debate if Harris were his opponent.
“I will defer to the president in terms of any details,” Whatley said. “But we made it clear that we welcome this debate, because we want to talk about the contrast between Biden Harris’ agenda and Donald Trump’s agenda.”
