Former President of the United States, Donald Trump, said this Tuesday (23) that he wants to debate Vice President Kamala Harris, but has not yet agreed to any specific debate.
Trump said the previously agreed-upon debate for September, hosted by ABC, was supposed to be a debate with President Joe Biden, who has since dropped out of the race.
“I didn’t agree to anything. I agreed to a debate with Joe Biden,” Trump said in a call with reporters this Tuesday.
“But I want to debate with her, and it will be no different with her, because they have the same policies. I think debating is important for a presidential race, I really do, you kind of have an obligation to debate.”, he added.
Trump said he would be open to participating in more than one confrontation with Harris and said he thought it was “important” to have presidential debates.
Trump criticized ABC – the network that is scheduled to hold a presidential debate on September 10 – and said he was “not enthusiastic” about the network.
He said he had particular problems with the network’s coverage of Biden’s withdrawal from the race and claimed they were “trying to make Joe Biden a hero.”
Trump had previously said on Truth Social that he wanted Fox News to host the debate instead of ABC.
