US Vice President and Democratic Party candidate for the White House, Kamala Harris, is less than two weeks away from naming her running mate.

That’s the timeline the presumptive Democratic nominee has given to a team of lawyers and consultants who are conducting one of the fastest-paced vice presidential searches in modern American history, they said. to CNN people familiar with the process, with the goal of announcing a candidate before August 7th.

The truncated process means that nearly four years after Harris answered Joe Biden’s call to be his running mate – on August 11, 2020 – she intends to shape her own Democratic ticket.

“She will choose someone she feels comfortable with – someone who is ready to be president,” he said. to CNN a Democrat close to the process, adding that Kamala is not naming any favorites among the candidates.

Who’s under consideration: Democrats close to the process say the list of top candidates to be considered still includes North Carolina Gov. Roy Cooper; Pennsylvania Governor Josh Shapiro and Arizona Senator Marco Kelly.

Transportation Secretary Pete Buttigieg, who has developed a close relationship with Harris and was previously vetted and confirmed by the Senate, is also under consideration, along with Kentucky Gov. Andy Beshear and Minnesota Gov. Tim Walz, sources say.
