Mitch Landrieu, national co-chair of Vice President Harris’ 2024 campaign, on Sunday praised the presumptive candidate’s progress since entering the race for the top spot on the Democratic ticket and encouraged centrist voters to participate in “history” by supporting the campaign.

In an interview on MSNBC’s “The Weekend,” Landrieu criticized former President Trump’s choice of running mate, freshman Sen. J.D. Vance (R-Ohio), and noted that more than a dozen cabinet secretaries from Trump left the White House prematurely, during Trump’s first term.

“This is due to Donald Trump’s inability to choose people who can actually govern the country,” Landrieu said.

“I think this is something that reasonable, thoughtful Americans who consider themselves middle-of-the-road should consider, because they don’t want this country to be destroyed,” Landrieu added.

“And we are all patriots, but we have to conquer the country. You just need to make the right decision at the right time. The story is calling you. Let’s not let this go unnoticed. Let’s grab it and move forward,” he continued.

Landrieu, who oversaw the implementation of the historic infrastructure bill passed at the start of President Biden’s term, praised the campaign’s progress since Biden announced he would no longer seek the party’s nomination for another term.

Landrieu said Harris’ campaign had “one of the best weeks we’ve seen in politics in the last 50 years,” noting that the team has raised $200 million, has 150,000 new volunteers and held more than 2,000 events for Harris across the country. country on Saturday.

“When President Biden decided he would not run again, the vice president entered this race. I mean, she roared. She took off like a rocket and has the pulse of the nation in her hands,” he said.
