US Vice President Kamala Harris is adding considerable political muscle to her campaign, bringing on board key party operatives and veterans of recent Democratic presidential campaigns.

“The intensity and volume of work that needs to be done has increased dramatically over the past three months and today’s measures put the pieces in place to scale and manage what’s to come,” a senior campaign official said Friday ( two).

“These measures also reflect the practical approach in the final stretch of a party that is united in winning the most important elections of our lifetime.”, he added.

Kamala maintains her entire leadership team in the city of Wilmington, which will continue to be led by Jennifer O’Malley Dillon, campaign chair. Julie Chávez Rodríguez will continue her role as campaign manager but will focus on Arizona, Nevada and Latino voters.

The advisors, many of whom are veterans of the 2008 and 2012 Obama and Biden campaigns, will be tasked with a variety of tasks, including: David Plouffe, senior advisor for the Road to Victory; Stephanie Cutter, senior messaging and strategy consultant; Mitch Stewart, senior advisor for swing states.

Jennifer Palmieri will serve as senior advisor to Doug Emhoff.

Official nomination of the Democratic Party

Earlier this Friday (2), Kamala obtained a sufficient number of delegates — a figure in the US electoral system — to make her candidacy official to contest the 2024 presidential elections for the Democratic Party.

The announcement was made by the party president, Jaime Harrison, during a virtual event with supporters.

Kamala will become the first black woman and the first Asian American to lead a major party ticket in the US.
