WATER doesn’t just make you look good on the outside – hydration is key to many aspects of your health.
It is important for body temperature, joint lubrication, weight loss, brain function and digestion. Adults need up to 2.5 liters a day, but many drink very little.
Here, Jane Atkinson reviews attractive but practical water bottles that could encourage you to drink more. . .
Measure this
MANY bottles have markers to show how much you drink. I love this one from the Hydration Movement. It has a capacity of one liter, but is not heavy.
It’s soft to the touch, has a very matte finish and the spout is a good size to avoid splashes.
You can even add pieces of fruit to liven it up and it’s easy to clean. I use mine every day, and the plastic used to make it does not contain any BPA chemicals.
He enters pink, black and white – with a variety of different colored caps. Cleaning brushes and long ice cube trays are also available. (From £29 at hydrationmovement.com)
Copper
It is said that copper water bottles can aid digestion, boost immunity, strengthen bones and improve brain function.
I wouldn’t guarantee any of this, but what you definitely get is a more hygienic bottle because copper is a natural antibacterial, effective against E. coli and salmonella.
To get any potential benefitsThe water needs to be stored at least overnight, if not longer – so I refill this at night, ready to drink in the morning.
Copper Paani bottles are beautiful. They come with a silicone case to cover the cold copper and are strong.
I dropped this bottle and even though it now has a big dent in it, the water never leaked out. (From £35 for 700ml bottles, paanibottles. with)
Effervesce
I LOVE sparkling water and I used to spend a fortune on bottles of this substance – which is not good for me or the environment.
But now SodaStream has released the adorable On The Go My Only Bottle.
It’s a BPA-free plastic design with a 500ml capacity, so it’s not too big to carry around.
Obviously you need to buy the SodaStream machine and the CO2 refills too.
But this is cheaper in the long run than buying bottles at the supermarket.
I love that this little container has a handle so you can carry it.
Plus, you can add SodaStream flavors if you don’t like plain water. It can also be washed in the dishwasher. (From £11.99 per bottle. sodastream.co.uk)
