DRESSING for success isn’t just for the workplace.
A survey by fitness clothing brand Barbell Apparel found that 79 percent of people believe that having great workout clothes is an important step towards fitness success and 85 percent said that looking cool while working out gives them more confidence .

HOOD
MADE with polyester from recycled plastic bottles, the Sprint hoodie from fitness brand dare2b has a soft, stretchy feel, while the fabric absorbs sweat and is also antibacterial, eliminating odor while you wear it.
What I really love is that this provides UPF40 sun protection and the thumb loops will keep you warm.
Neither too tight nor too loose, it’s a flattering length and the crossover hood and kangaroo pocket at the front make it look elegant.
Not a bad price either at £30.

SHORTS
WHEN the weather heats up, the last thing you need is long leggings to make your workout even more difficult.
I love these My Protein Women’s Power Cycling shorts.
And even though they’re called cycling shorts, I tried them on a run and loved them.
They stay up, which is key, and they have a side pocket which I love as I like to carry my phone with me to check on me.
They’re short but flattering and are treated with an antimicrobial finish that keeps you fresh longer.
These are now my running shorts. I love the reach of sizes that My Protein offers.
They come in XXS to XXL, £32.

COACHES
SHOES (and bras for women!) are the most important piece of kit, no matter the time of year – and making sure they fit correctly is vital.
I went to my local Runners Need store for a gait analysis and discovered that I am wearing shoes that are too small.
I ran on a treadmill that showed my gait and then put my feet on a special machine that showed which sneakers in the store were best for me.
He suggested a pair of Brooks sneakers that are shiny.
They are a size larger than what I used, a great width for my wide feet, and the numbness I sometimes felt while running is gone.
This expert gait analysis costs £15 or is free when you buy running shoes in store or online within 30 days.
