SMARTLY Gordon Grenville-Hunt celebrated his 104th birthday – attributing his long life to being fully English every day.

The war veteran eats a hearty fry with the fruit salad provided by the staff at his nursing home.

It was his breakfast of choice on his big day – and he backed up his reputation for having a monster appetite with a lunch of fish and chips.

Gordon dismissed any concerns about his cholesterol levels by saying: “I have a cooked breakfast every day.

“It prepares me for the day. I could eat a healthy fruit salad, but I would never consider anything other than a full English.”

The father-of-two went on to work for car manufacturer British Leyland in Oxford.

Following the death of his second wife, Phyllis, in 2019 he moved to Dorset and lives at Larks Leas Rest Home in Blandford.

Son Philip, 70, attributed his longevity to his love of food.

He said: “He eats like a horse and is stubborn like a mule. He is the most positive person I know. His cup is overflowing, it’s never half full.”

Larks Leas boss Becky Bailey said: “At 104, cholesterol levels are not high on her priority list. He is very proud of his age.”
