An investigation into what exactly happened to the mother has been delayed, leaving Demi’s family still begging for answers.

Family members said she returned to the clinic after the procedure in Istanbul for a check-up but later fell ill.

She had a heart attack while in a taxi on the way to the hospital while her partner, Bradley Jones, performed CPR in a desperate attempt to save her life, according to the Independent.

Doctors were unable to save her upon arrival and she was pronounced dead on January 8.

Her brother Carl, 37, said Demi’s family and partner tried to convince her not to have a butt lift because they were worried about her safety.

“What happened is tragic. We’re just in shock. She went to Istanbul to do this. She had already gone to get dentures. No one wanted her to go out and do this, but she is one of those people,” he previously told The Sun.

His sister Georgina told the Manchester Evening News (MAN) Demi was “an incredible mother to her boys.”

In a touching TikTok tribute video featuring her loved one, she wrote: “I miss you so much Demi. Nothing seems real anymore. How could you be gone?”

“I just want to hear you scream, it’s okay boy, nothing will be the same without you, I love you Demi x.”

During a hearing at Bolton Crown Court on Wednesday (July 17), coroner John Pollard told of “missing information” that he said he would need to “find out” what happened to Demi, according to MEN.

Pollard said his main concern was determining how Demi died and said there was “no direct evidence” of what medical procedure occurred and why it took so long.

“When something like this happens abroad it is a hundred times more difficult to deal with than if it happened in this country,” he told the court.

“I don’t have the information I need, that’s frankly the situation.”

Pollard said he had contacted the Foreign Office to request more information.

He said he also plans to write directly to Istanbul Hospital, adding that he would like statements from the surgeon, nurses and paramedics involved in Demi’s care.

Chrissie Wolfe, the lawyer representing Demi’s family, has so far been unable to obtain the information needed for the hearing in Turkey.

But she contacted a Turkish lawyer to help obtain Demi’s statements and medical records.

The pre-inquest review heard that pathologist Dr Usha Chandran was unable to determine the cause of Demi’s death in her post-mortem examination.

‘RISK OF DEATH 10 TIMES HIGHER’

In recent years, at least 28 Britons have died – seven in Turkey – following complications from BBL operations.

Last year, a coroner wrote to the Health Secretary after another British woman, called Melissa Kerr, died following a “Brazilian butt lift” in Turkey.

Senior Coroner for Norfolk, Jacqueline Lake, has promised to speak out about her concerns that people are not aware of the risks of having cosmetic surgery abroad.

Melissa, 31, traveled from her home in Norfolk to Istanbul to undergo the £3,200 procedure at Medicana Kadikoy hospital.

She was killed when the injected fat entered a vein and blocked her pulmonary artery, causing an embolism.

The controversial butt lift involves taking fat from the waist or belly and inserting it into the buttocks.

It typically takes between one and two hours and involves inserting a small cannula into a 2mm hole to extract fat.

The fat is then purified and reinjected into the buttocks.

According to the NHS, the risk of death is at least ten times higher than many other cosmetic procedures.

The main concern is that the injected fat could block a blood vessel in the lungs (pulmonary embolism).

Demi’s inquest has been re-scheduled for November 5th.

Risks of plastic surgery abroad

OVERSEAS surgeons are not subject to the same rules, regulations and training as doctors in the UK.

This means that you cannot guarantee the safety of the equipment or materials used.

Unsterilized equipment drastically increases the risk of infection, which can lead to necrotizing fasciitis (flesh-eating insects), sepsis, or even death.

Additionally, if you opt for fillers or injections in any part of your body, there is no way of knowing whether doctors are using dangerous substances.

Plastic surgeons have warned against cut-price surgery as there is a real risk you could be injected with “dangerous substances”.

Professor Ash Mosahebi, honorary secretary of the British Association of Aesthetic Plastic Surgeons (BAAPS), said most patients opt for cheap injections or implants to enhance their butt.

“If they are having injections then God knows what they are being injected with, whether it is safe or whether it is sterile,” he told The Sun Online.

“Oil, for example, makes it look bigger for a few days, but then it shrivels and an infection like sepsis is likely to set in.

“I know that silicone oil is being used, which should not be used for medical purposes.

“I’ve heard about cement, but I’ve never seen it, I wouldn’t be surprised if it was things like that.

“Most of the time, injections also end up containing a lot of bacteria because they are not sterile.”
