But unlike most drinks, this one claims to help you lose weight, rather than gain it.

After swallowing the drink, the liquid reacts with stomach acid to form a jelly that fills the belly.

The semi-solid gel then remains in the stomach, which, in theory, could induce a feeling of satiety, reducing the desire to snack.

A journalist, writing for Japanese news website SoraNews24stated that the drink kept them satisfied for two hours.

“My hunger almost completely subsided and my head was even clearer,” they said. “This effect lasted for about two hours.”

Social media users impressed by the new drink said it is an alternative to weight loss scams such as Ozempic and Wegovy.

Talking about the drink on X (formally Twitter), Andrea (@Iiitsandrea), said: “Forget Ozempic.

“The Japanese made a canned drink to help “contain hunger.” WILD.”

While discussing the new drink, a TikTok account called sn4xer @Snax, Inc. said that In Tasan might “take the cake” when it comes to “Ozempic dupes”.

In Tansan, from Morinaga, it can be purchased in two flavors: dried grapefruit and lemon.

At Japanese online store Sugio Mart – which ships internationally – a can of grapefruit-flavoured grapefruit drink costs $5.99 (£4.64) and doesn’t include shipping.

An expert has warned that although the drinks are likely safe to consume, they may have some serious side effects.

Nutritionist Duane Mellor, from Aston University and the British Dietetic Association, said erythritol, the sweetener in In Tansan, could leave some people with a strange belly.

“Erythritol is also a laxative and can interfere with the absorption of other medications if consumed in large quantities. It can also cause stomach cramps,” he said. Online Mail.

How are these drinks similar to Ozempic?

Although In Tusan and Ozempic have similar short-term effects on hunger, comparisons with real weight-loss drugs like semaglutide don’t really work, said Professor Gunter Kuhnle, an expert in nutrition and food science at the University of Reading.

“I don’t think they can really be compared to a drug that directly affects hunger – they make you feel full, but I don’t know if they would work for long,” he told the website.

Ozempic – whose active ingredient is semaglutide – is prescribed to treat type 2 diabetes and has the added benefit of making users lose weight.

Its manufacturer, Novo Nordisk, launched a higher dose of semaglutide under the brand name Wegovy to treat obesity, which was launched in the UK last year.

The class of medications, called glucagon-like peptide 1 receptor agonists (GLP-1 RA), works by mimicking the GLP-1 hormone naturally produced by the intestine when you eat food, which signals to the brain that you are full and prevents you from overeating.

Tansan itself does not market itself as a product similar to Ozempic or as a weight loss aid, it simply says it can help reduce snacking.

The 3 BEST Cheap Diet Tricks for Weight Loss Than Wegovy and Ozempic Scams

Energy-dense foods, which tend to be rich in healthy fats, proteins or simple sugars, trigger the secretion of GLP-1 in the body

“This means that a healthy diet rich in GLP-1-stimulating nutrients can increase GLP-1 levels,” explained smma Beckett from the University of Newcastle in an article for The Conversation.

Here are three of Emma’s cheap food swaps that may have a similar weight loss effect to Wegovy.

1. Eggs

Eggs are relatively inexpensive but are full of vitamins and healthy fats.

Not yolk: A serving of two eggs provides a source of almost all essential vitamins and minerals – except vitamin C and B3.

Even as the cost of living crisis continues to plague the UK, eggs remain relatively affordable – with a box from Tesco costing just over a pound.

They are packed with protein, which has a multitude of benefits, including the fact that they can keep you full, which can help with weight loss.

There are even to look for to show how eating eggs for breakfast can help limit your calorie intake throughout the day by more than 400 calories.

2. Vegetables

Some specialty vegetables have been touted for their fat-eliminating benefits in recent years – particularly the humble broccoli.

It is full of nutrients, many of which are well absorbed thanks to their effect on the intestine.

A study of Nutritional Research found that consuming steamed broccoli regularly reduces the risk of cardiovascular disease by reducing the total amount of cholesterol in the body.

Along with this, broccoli is also great for weight loss because it is rich in fiber that makes you feel full.

But it’s not just broccoli that will help you on your journey.

Nutritionist Melissa Meier previously told The Sun that people need to eat the classic five portions of vegetables every day to lose weight.

“Try eating mostly the non-starchy kind,” she said.

“A serving is one cup (about 200g) of raw vegetables or half a cup (100g) of cooked vegetables.”

Non-starchy vegetables generally have less sugar and more fiber than starchy vegetables.

These include: carrots, peppers, tomatoes and asparagus.

3. Whole grains

Whole grains – such as brown rice and whole oats – are also an important source of fiber, which helps keep us fuller for longer.

Fiber also makes bathroom time more productive, so you feel less blocked.

Research has suggested that grains can increase our metabolism – which means we burn calories faster, even when we’re not doing anything.

To reap the grainy benefits, try replacing white rice with quinoa, white pasta with rice pasta or your regular breakfast cereal with porridge.
