THE MODERN White Van man tends to be fit and is more likely to choose muesli for breakfast rather than a full English, research shows.

The beer-bellied, tea-loving macho stereotype is quickly disappearing in the rearview mirror.

Of the current harvest, 58 percent walk to exercise, 41 percent go to the gym, 35 percent play sports and 14 percent practice yoga or pilates.

Cooking and baking is their top hobby, with 44 percent doing so, followed by gardening (38 percent), reading (38 percent) and arts and crafts (22 percent).

Muesli, oatmeal, yogurt with granola or avocado on toast are preferred over bacon, eggs, sausages and beans and only 23% drink sugar in their tea.

Eight percent use soy or oat milk.

One in seven say they are vegetarian, vegan or fisherman and just six percent prefer to spend their free time in a pub.

They prefer to be with family and friends (48 percent), watch television (20 percent) or do some exercise (11 percent).

One in four prefers listening to podcasts or audiobooks in their van rather than listening to the radio, according to research carried out by Citroën among 2,000 van drivers.

Previous studies have revealed that one in five uses face cream and keeps deodorant on their body and one in ten uses lip balm.

Citroën UK boss Greg Taylor said: “It’s clear that the habits and lifestyles of UK van drivers have overcome the prejudices of the previous decade.”
