Perkins Restaurant on Route 434 in Apalachin, New York, opened in July 2017 in a newly constructed building adjacent to a Comfort Inn – making it a prime dining spot.

As of April 2024, the company operates in 265 locations in 32 states and Canada.

This particular location was owned and operated by Beth Ann Smith of Georgia, but the restaurant closed abruptly after just four years.

Smith never provided a reason for the closing and his efforts to sell the 4,800-square-foot building were initially unsuccessful.

A property listing indicated that the kitchen and appliances, installed at a cost of $529,000, were included in the sale.

An auction advertisement asked for a starting bid of $200,000, but the property remained on the market for a few years.

But this summer, the property was finally sold.

According to the local radio station WNBF-FMthe buyer was identified as Bob Stanley of St. Louis, Missouri.

Renovation work began last month and the new restaurant, Chef Stanley’s, is expected to open by the end of this month.

In February of the same year, the independent building began to take shape next to the Comfort Inn.

In mid-July 2017, the finishing touches were being applied to the building.

At the same time, several dozen people were hired to work at the new restaurant.

The restaurant officially opened on July 24, 2017.

However, after four years of feeding the upstate New York community, the restaurant suddenly closed in October 2021.

There was no explanation for the closure, just a sign on the door stating that it was “Closed for Maintenance”.

The restaurant officially closed on April 2, 2022, and the building remained vacant until its recent sale.

Those involved in the renovation told WNBF-FM they are optimistic about the new restaurant’s potential and are looking forward to its opening.

The Apalachin community says they are looking forward to welcoming Chef Stanley and hope the new restaurant brings a new and exciting dining experience to the area.
