A WASTE company says it has jars full of coins that could be worth thousands of dollars each.

The waste management facility in Morrisville, Pennsylvania, about 30 miles north of Philadelphia, explained how it accumulated so many coins.

Reworld said it finds between $500,000 and $1 million in coins each year.

They explained that they started collecting the money in 2017, when they realized that so many coins had been thrown away by people, according to Wall Street Journal.

Most of these coins are deposited by the company in a bank, but workers shared that they have set aside some coins.

These special coins are the buffalo coins, which are no longer manufactured as they were produced between 1913 and 1938.

Some of these coins could be resold for thousands of dollars.

Despite this, the site’s operations supervisor, Aneglo Geraci, explained why those coins were special to him.

“As a kid, I was excited about buffalo coins, I thought they were rare,” Geraci said.

“Here we have jars and jars of buffalo coins.”

These coins are not the only currency that ends up in the facility, as they have even seen foreign coins pass through their factory.

They included euro cents and Kuwaiti coins.

This process involves incinerated waste that is sent to the Pennsylvania facility.

A machine would divide the waste and separate the metals.

Workers then sift through the pile of metal by hand to remove money or valuables.

Reworld said it has raised more than $10 million in cash through this process since it began.

Reworld also explained that some of the coins found could not be used, as they would have been seriously damaged during the concentration process.

Pawn Man explained that money could be worth as much as if it were made of platinum.

A rare coin expert also explained how a 2024 penny could be worth $40.

He explained that an error in the minted money could give it a high value.
