‘Must be trying to kill the brand’ rage shoppers as iconic clothing chain makes big comeback – but only as mini stores

AN iconic baby brand is returning to the US after six years, but customers are not happy with the news.

The ad was posted on social media and shoppers quickly questioned the decision.

“Babies ‘R Us, which closed its brick-and-mortar stores in 2018 as part of the Toys ‘R Us bankruptcy, is reopening as mini-stores within Kohl’s stores all over the country“, KTLA 5 News reported on Facebook.

While some may see this as good news, others were disappointed that the brand’s return will only be in mini stores.

“They must be trying to completely kill the brand,” commented one customer.

“Nobody shops at Kohl’s unless you’re retired and shopping for your grandchildren.”

“Seriously, I just wish they would bring the store back. I would never go to Kohl’s to buy anything,” said another customer.

“I can’t stand Kohl’s, so there’s no need to visit.”

Other buyers, however, were more optimistic about the announcement.

“Smart move!” one user commented on the Facebook post.

“Wow, how cool,” said another.

The mini stores are expected to open in August and Kohl’s expects to have 200 BabieS “R” Us stores operating nearby the holiday season.

US Sun approached the network for comment.

This isn’t the first time the chain has returned since its closure in 2018.

Babies “R” Us opened a store in New Jersey in July 2023.

“Our baby has ARRIVED!” the brand tweeted at the time on X.

As previously reported by The US Sun, the store included a baby registry, a nursery design center and a learning center for private events.

Customers were also able to try out strollers in the store on a special stroller test track.

TURBULENT PAST

Toys “R” Us filed for Chapter 11 bankruptcy in 2018.

Tru Kids then purchased the brand in liquidation before it changed hands again in 2021 – it was purchased by WHP Global.

The upcoming reopening of Babies “R” US is not the first time the brand has appeared in other stores.

Toys “R” Us has run successful pop-up stores in Macy’s stores since early 2021.
