Shoney’s serves classic American-style food and was founded in 1947.

Its store in Dover, Ohio — just under a two-hour drive from Columbus — will soon cease to exist.

The Dover restaurant has 25 employees – some have been there since the chain opened, according to store manager Mike Watson.

“It’s been a really good place,” he told Times reporter.

Watson has worked at Shoney’s for more than 18 years.

Nick Hussein, owner of Dover Shoney’s, has decided to reduce the number of restaurants he owns, according to Watson.

Watson believes this is the reason why Shoney’s is being forced to close its doors.

Once the store closes, there will be no more Shoney’s restaurants in Ohio.

If people want to visit the network, they will have no choice but to travel to another state.

The online auction for this Shoney location ends on August 22nd.

Therefore, potential buyers have just under two weeks to submit their proposals.

STORE CLOSURES

The closure of this Shoney’s restaurant is just one of many stores across the United States that have closed their doors this year.

Rusty Bucket, another restaurant chain, will permanently leave the state of Florida next week.

The chain has 20 locations across the US and is known for its relaxed atmosphere.

Badcock Furniture & More, a popular furniture chain, will close all of its stores before the end of the year after 120 years in business.

Restaurant Closings in 2024

BOSSes of major restaurant chains have announced a series of restaurant closures. The US Sun compiled a list of those affected by the network.

  • Biscuit Barrel: Stores in Medford, Oregon, Columbia, South Carolina and Sacramento, California, closed.
  • Mod Pizza: Bosses dramatically closed 27 stores in April, including some in the state of California.
  • Frisch’s Big Boy: Restaurant bosses confirmed the closure of a restaurant in Covington, Kentucky, in April.
  • Outback Steakhouse: The chain will close 41 “underperforming” locations this year.
  • Two dollars: Four restaurants in Ohio closed in April.
  • Pepper: A restaurant in Port Arthur, Texas, has closed permanently, as has another in Irvine, California.
  • Friendly: Bosses have confirmed that an establishment in Ronkonkoma, Long Island, will close.
  • Pizza Hut: A restaurant in Glen Falls, New York, closed in late March, followed by four in Ohio in June and 15 in Indiana.
  • Danny: Two restaurants in Boise and Nampa, Idaho, have closed.
  • Carl’s Jr.: The first location in Boise, Idaho, has closed.
  • Inside and outside: A location in Oakland closed earlier this year due to crime in the area.
  • Cheesecake Factory: The chain is expected to close a location in Memphis, Tennessee, in July.
  • Applebee’s: Announced the closure of between 25 and 35 locations this year.
  • Taco John’s: He closed a restaurant in Minnesota and put the building up for sale in May.
  • Rubio’s Coastal Grill: Announced the closure of 48 locations in California after filing for bankruptcy.
  • BurgerKing: It closed a California location in June after 30 years.

“It’s so sad to see all these hard-working people lose their jobsmany of these people have dedicated many years of their lives to this company,” said one upset customer.

Discount store Big Lots announced earlier this year that it will close more than 300 underperforming stores.

35 states will see the loss of a Big Lots location.

California will be hit hardest, with 75 of its 109 locations closing its doors.

“Everything is closing, including banks and supermarkets,” complained one customer.
